We clecoed the left HS skin on and started riveting the interior (non-squeezable) rivets. Damion did great at bucking, and we quickly dialed in the right working pressure and riveting time. Got it down to a science. Here's a view inside the left side of the HS, and you can barely make out the nice, consistent row of shop heads on the spar and middle rib.

Here's the public eye view of the riveted spar and rib. The skin is horribly fingerprinted with all the handling going on, but I still snapped this picture to catch the in-process skin riveting job. The rivets came out nice and flush.

The biggest headache of this day was realizing that the blind (pop) CS4-4 rivets used to fasten the forward underside of the HS skins look like CRAP when pulled...at least in comparison to the nice flush appearance and feel of the solid AN426s. Despite it being the underside, I went back on my decision to rivet the inboard forward ribs, and I ended up drilling them out. This allowed Damion to get his arm inside the HS and buck the rivets for the forward underside (really hard to describe, but if you're building an RV, you know what I'm talking about). Again, he did a great job, and now that rib has solid rivets and looks much better than it would have with the blind rivets.
Anyway, it was a stressful day, because I HATE drilling out rivets that I worked hard to get right. Problem is, in drilling out the rivets, the holes got enlarged. I've decided to just bite the bullet and put in a couple AN3-4 bolts (3/16" diameter, 1/2" long) in those holes. It's the right thing to do in this case, considering the enlarged holes. More weight, but a couple bolts won't push this thing over the edge. Very common, from what I hear. Anyway, I've gotta get an assortment of AN aircraft hardware from Spruce one of these days so I can finish this up. But in the meantime, I'm going to take the next couple days pretty mellow, because I've been cranking way too hard on this the past week. It'll probably be a day or two before I finish riveting the left skin and start on the right side. To be continued...
